This training will offer child care directors and staff an opportunity to learn about the importance of breastfeeding and how to create an environment that supports breastfeeding. Human milk is the perfect food for infants to nourish them, protect them from illness, and is sufficient to support optimal growth and development. This training will encourage directors and staff to make a commitment to the importance of breastfeeding. Staff will receive training on the importance of breastfeeding, how to provide a breastfeeding friendly environment, and how to develop a sustainable feeding plan with each family. Training will be provided on the proper handling and feeding of mother’s milk, as well as how to ensure that families are able to properly store and label milk for child care center use. Centers will receive written materials for the center use, as well as resources to be shared with families.
