December 11, 2020- HENDERSONVILLE, NC – The Children & Family Resource Center (CFRC) is pleased to announce the award of a grant of $5,000 from the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. The Community Missions Grant will provide support for the Diaper & Formula Resource Program, the Center’s newest program stemming from the needs of families during the pandemic.
During the first weeks of the Coronavirus pandemic, Children & Family Resource Center saw the need for diapers and formula start to quickly multiply. Funds from the 2020 HFUMC Community Missions Grant were pooled with grants from the United Way and Community Foundation of Henderson County, and with local donor contributions to create a weekly Diaper Drive-Thru. CFRC has handed out over $125,000 in diapers, wipes, and infant formula since April 10.
Funds from the new grant will allow CFRC to establish a permanent resource program at the Center, providing diapers to families in need on a bi-monthly schedule. Executive Director Jamie Wiener says “CFRC is so grateful for this partnership allowing us to support families in uncertain times. Diapers and formula are essential for the health and growth of babies and the cost of these items are so high. We are thankful for these funds that will keep families from having to choose an electric bill over the healthy development of their child. “
