When baby blues last too long

Baby blues affect about 80% of new mothers. This is short-lived, about 10-14 days, and is characterized by general sadness, fatigue, crying spells or mood swings. About 25% of women who experience baby blues will develop postpartum depression. Longer-lasting sadness, anxiety or irritability are signs of postpartum depression. If you are a new mom, or know a new mom, pay attention to these signs.
